The place
Barely another place on the lake packs so much elevation into so little ground. That yields images with depth: you look across rooftops to the water, or up the lanes from below. In late summer the vineyards above town add a structure all their own.
The light
The slope faces south-west — the late light arrives frontally and bounces off the pale façades. In the morning the old town sits long in its own shade, which suits calm, even portraits.

Practical
The gradients should not be underestimated, especially in heels. I like to plan a short, concentrated round here rather than a long walk.
